Description

As one of the major representatives of successful entrepreneurs in Japan, Oki Matsumoto will talk about the story of why, as a non-English speaker at the time, he decided to join a US-based company in the 80s, especially at a time when Japanese banks were so strong, about becoming a General Partner of Goldman Sachs, and why, at the height of his career, he decided to establish a business of his own. Matsumoto, rather than being a market follower, is known to be a contrarian, and although he was successful in his reading of the future of brokerages in Japan, what is the importance, as well as risk of being a contrarian? He will discuss the challenges he and the company face in this time of financial uncertainty, and difficulties of its recent advancements into China. He will also go into how the flow of money has changed in the past few years, and in the midst of this change, what the best way become a successful entrepreneur is.
