SpeakersJustin FlowersAsia Director, Lateral LinkJustin Flowers is a Director with Lateral Link. He oversees attorney placements (both partner and associate level) and client relationships with the top international US- and UK-based firms in Asia, the Middle East and Emerging Markets. Justin also establishes and maintains relationships with firms new to the international markets in general, or to a specific market, who are in need of attorney placement services on an international level. In addition to his work in international markets, Justin also advises domestic US boutique law firms on their strategic growth and hiring. Prior to joining Lateral Link, Justin recruited for both an international search firm and a New York-based domestic legal search boutique. He practiced law as a litigator for several years before becoming a recruiter. Justin earned a J.D. from NYU School of Law and an undergraduate liberal arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Oklahoma, where he attended the Honors College. Galina JeffreyPrincipal, Clarif-IGalina U. Jeffrey is Principal of Clarif-I. Her focus is executive coaching with particular help for leaders in transition, leaders taking on global responsibilities and for high potential women. Prior to establishing Clarif-I she was an Executive Vice President at The Forum Corporation, a leader in corporate training and education working with Fortune 500 companies around the globe. Over her 20 year tenure with Forum she had a variety of roles. Galina developed and led the Asian market based out of Hong Kong for 9 years. She also developed and managed partner relationships in Japan, Korea, Australia and NZ. Galina earned her Bachelor of Arts in Russian Studies and Education from Fordham University and has done graduate work in adult education and organizational development at Fordham University and the University of Southern California. She is certified as an Executive Coach by Forum and by the Behavioral Coaching Institute and the Neuro Business Group in the application of neuroscience in the business context. Simone YewPartner, WilmerHaleSimone Yew is a partner in WilmerHale’s corporate, technology licensing and China practices. She specializes in US-China cross-border transactions, helping US companies establish businesses, acquire shares and assets, and license technology to China. She has a broad range of expertise involving business in China, and specializes in joint ventures and complex partnering arrangements between US and Chinese parties, intellectual property protection, and helping clients successfully complete mergers and acquisitions involving Chinese targets. She also works with private equity investors on direct investments in China. Ms. Yew has extensive international experience. Born and raised in Singapore, she has lived and practiced in Hong Kong, Beijing and Silicon Valley. She is admitted to the bars in California, England & Wales and Singapore and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Before joining WilmerHale, Ms. Yew was a partner in Baker & McKenzie's China practice. He has been addressing the hiring, development, and career success challenges of both professional talent and global businesses in China for the past 15 years. His two books, The “New Gold Mountain” and “Know The Game, Play The Game,” provide highly practical and relevant career development advice that speaks directly to today's maturing generation of Chinese professionals. He is based in Shanghai and frequently provides his career development expertise and job market insights to international media, such as CNBC, CNN, CCTV, The SCMP, AWSJ, and Business Week, ICS, China Daily, CBN Weekly, to name a few. Elie Mystal (Moderator)Editor, Above the LawElie Mystal is editor of Above the Law. Prior to winning the ATL Idol Contest, Elie wrote about politics and popular culture at City Hall News and the New York Press. Elie received a degree in Government from Harvard University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He still has a rash from all the poison ivy. He used to be a litigator at Debevoise & Plimpton but quit the legal profession in lieu of stripping naked and lighting himself on fire. He is a contributor at True/Slant and enjoys the Mets, dogs, and arguing with strangers.
