Executive Vice President, SK Telecom

Young-Chan Nam is the Executive Vice President of SK Telecom's Corporate Relations & Legal Division, and Chair of the Executive Committee on Corporate Ethics of the Federation of Korean Industries. He graduated from Seoul National University in 1981 with a B.A. in Law and continued his education to receive a M.A. in Law in 1984. From 1996 to 1997, he was a Visiting Scholar at Goettingen University in Germany. Mr. Nam also took on research at Max Planck Society Criminal Law Research Center as a Visiting Fellow in 2002. In 2007, he completed the Advanced Management Course from Seoul National University.

Following his graduate studies, Mr. Nam was admitted to the Korean Bar in 1985 and was appointed the position of Judge of the Seoul District Court. He continued his public service in various regional district and high courts from 1987 to 1998. Mr. Nam took office in the Seoul High Court in 1998 before being appointed as the Research Judge of the Supreme Court. From 2002 to 2003 he presided over the Daejon District Court. In 2003, Mr. Nam was appointed as Research & Presiding Justice of the Republic of Korea Supreme Court. In 2005, Mr. Nam decided to leave his successful 20-year career in the Korean judiciary system and join SK Telecom as Executive Vice President of Corporate Relations & Legal Division. He also heads the company's Ethics Magement Center.

Mr. Nam currently chairs the Federation of Korean Industries' Executive Committee on Corporate Ethics taking a pro-active role in promoting cooperation between officers managing corporate ethics and compliance. He is a well-known advocate of corporate social responsibility and has endeavored to further establish a sound corporate citizenship culture in Korea's private sector. He is a member of the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association and also serves as a board member of SK Broadband, a subsidiary of SK Telecom.
