Over the past decade, the emergence of technologies such as IPTV, Web 2.0, and high-speed mobile telephony have greatly influenced the strategies employed by companies to sustain their business models in a rapidly transforming economy. Nowhere else can the effects of these technologies be seen more dramatically than in Asia: Asian consumers are interacting in new ways with these converging technologies, leading to rapid changes in the nature of the technology marketplace. Users can now generate their own content and distribute it widely over the internet, create interactive social networks online, watch high definition TV broadcasts via a broadband connection, and play sophisticated and multiplayer games on the internet and consoles. This panel will bring together speakers who are actively involved in shaping these exciting and transformational trends.

John Deighton (Moderator)

John Deighton

Professor John Deighton is the Harold M. Brierley Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He is an authority on marketing and marketing communications, editor of the Journal of Consumer Research, and the founding co-editor of the Journal of Interactive Marketing which reports scholarly research on marketing and the Internet. He is a Trustee of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at the Harvard Law School. He has published extensively on digital marketing tools and their transformative effect on the practice of marketing. Some of his Harvard Business Review articles on this topic include 'The Future of Interactive Marketing,' and 'Manage Marketing by the Customer Equity Test.'

Harry (Hwa Sun) Kim

Mr. Harry Kim is the Corporate Vice President and Chief Strategic Officer of NCsoft. He develops corporate strategy, partnerships and alliances for one of the world’s leading online game companies. Founded in 1997, NCsoft is a Korea-based developer and publisher of online multiplayer games that have revolutionized the gaming industry through its massively popular Lineage franchise. Today, the company’s games are played by millions of users in North America, Europe, and Asia. A graduate of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Mr. Kim spent 16 years in various leadership positions at Microsoft in the U.S. and Korea prior to joining NCsoft, most recently as Senior Director of .NET and eBusiness in Korea.

Dongmyun Lee

Dongmyun Lee

Dr. Dongmyun Lee is Vice President, BcN, of Korea Telecommunications. He received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Seoul National University in 1985 and the M.S. & Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 1987 and 1991 respectively. He joined KT in 1991 and has worked on the development of ATM switching system, B-ISDN management system, and later joined the development of new businesses including content delivery network and enterprise total service. During 2003~4, he led the technology strategy team of KT. He is currently head of the BcN group in KT. His professional interest includes distributed processing, end-to-end QoS, and service integration.

Mr. Marine Ma is the Co-Founder and CEO of eFriendsNet Entertainment Corp. A winner of the prestigious Red Herring Asia 100 in 2005, eFriendsNet is a leading social networking and online dating company founded in 2003 and turned profitable in just one year. Based on user-centric social network, eFriendsNet provides applications such as Dating, Blog and WVAS over Internet and Mobile Internet. Before co-founding eFriendsNet, Mr. Ma was the Vice General Manager of the wireless division at NetEase (NASDAQ: NTES), a top 3 Internet portal in China with more than 100 million registered users. Previously, Marine was the Co-Founder of FanSo, the first and largest Internet portal for Chinese college users. Mr. Ma obtained his BS degree from Tsinghua University in China, majoring in Telecommunication.

Joachim Ng

Joachim Ng

As US Country Director for Infocomms Development Authority of Singapore, Joachim Ng is responsible for cultivating strategic relationships with US government, multi-national corporations, industry associations and entrepreneurs. Joachim also spent 5 years with Singapore’s Economic Development Board. From 2002 to 2005, he served as Center Director of the EDB’s San Francisco office and grew investments to Singapore from the IT, media and digital entertainment industries. Major successes include facilitating Lucasfilm Ltd setup of their 1st overseas animation studio in Singapore. Joachim began his career as a manufacturing engineer with Hewlett Packard’s Inkjet Printer Supplies business in Singapore, and obtained a US patent for his work on inkjet process technology. He holds bachelors and masters degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech.
